For 26 years Steven Wrubleski has designed and produced exquisite architectural art glass in his studio on Lopez Island, Washington. Commissions range from intimate accents to larger installations which function as an extension of the architectural design itself. His work includes large municipal projects in the Northwest, as well as private commissions throughout the U.S.

“My stained glass work expresses a wide variety of design styles, in response to the needs of each client – ranging from architectural geometrical panels, to fluidly organic designs; some including recognizable imagery and others abstract. As a professional designer, I enjoy the collaborative process of combining my expertise with the client’s ideas – integrating the variables of ambiance, light source, architectural style, and functional site requirements – into a completed installation which adds beauty to the building environment and evokes a sense of joy and inspiration in the persons enjoying the space. My work is very personal. Each piece of glass I include is carefully selected or created for its color and textural light enhancing qualities. Any application for art glass is of interest to me, from entries, skylights, room dividers, or lighting.”
Stained glass is best installed as an additional layer behind a thermalpane glass layer, toward the inside of the building space. As such it can be added in at any time. Higher degree of integration with architectural aesthetic is possible when consideration of art glass occurs early in the building design process.
